Baptized Charles-Édouard Dupont. Son of Narcisse Dupont and Cécile (aka Célia) Bouvette, of Trois-Rivières, St-Maurice, Québec.
Enlisted in the 57th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force on June 2, 1916, he sailed for Great Britain, arriving in Liverpool, England, on the 8th. Upon arrival, he was assigned to the 69th Battalion based in Otterpool. He was transferred to the 22nd Battalion on August 27, 1916. On the 29th, he crossed the English Channel and landed in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais. On September 20, he went to the front line. He was reported missing in action on October 4, 1916, during the Battle of Courcelette for the capture of the Regina trench. His body was never found.
