Photo of William Symon Little
This is a photo of my Great Uncle William Symon Little who enlisted in the South Saskatchewan 46th on October 4, 1915. Tranferred from Bramshott Camp in Great Britain to the 42nd Quebec Regiment, he fought initially at Mount Sorrel and died on October 1, 1916 of wounds likely suffered in action at Courcelette, France in September 15-16 of that year. I never knew my Great Uncle but I have come to have a greater perception of him through my pursuit of the reissuance of his medals this year and my interest in his military records for the future family to appreciate. He was short like all the rest of us, had 2 fingers missing from a farm accident, but I think he knew his place for Canada and for that we are all proud and will not forget. -
