The photo was taken in Vernon B.C in 1942 while he was taking advanced infantry training, check out his knees they are all cut up from doing battle drills , you will also note that he is wearing the acting rank of a sergeant. He was 17 when joined with mother's permission , looks more like a boy scout than a soldier
