Baptized Joseph-Pierre-Ferrier Labelle.
Son of Théodore Labelle (deceased in 1903) and Euphrosine Fabre (deceased in 1906), of Montréal, Québec.
He stated being born in Montréal in 1875 when he enlisted.
Enlisted in the 57th Reserve Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on October 16, 1915, with the 41st Battalion and arrived in Plymouth, England, on the 28th. On March 15, 1916, he was assigned to the 23rd Reserve Battalion and on July 13 to the 69th Reserve Battalion. On August 27, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion and crossed over to France, landing at Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais. From September 18 to 20, he was seconded to the 2nd Canadian Entrenchment Battalion, then rejoined the 22nd Battalion, which was engaged in combat at Courcelette, Somme. On October 10, in Courcelette, during the Battle of the Regina Trench, he was wounded by several pieces of shrapnel in the head and evacuated to an intensive care hospital in Rouen. He died there from his injuries three weeks later the 24th to the 9th.General Hospital.

ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION (ROUEN) Seine-Maritime, France
The St. Sever Cemetery and Extension (Rouen) is situated about 3 kilometres south of Rouen Cathedral and a short distance west of the road from Rouen to Elbeuf. If travelling from Elbeuf or Caen on the N.138, follow Avenue Des Canadiens right down to the roundabout. Then take the fourth exit into Rue Stanislas De Jardin, and the cemetery lies 150 metres on the left. The CWGC signpost is located at the entrance of the cemetery. The cemetery covers an area of 49,885 square metres.
The War Stone is on the boundary of the original Cemetery and the Extension, facing the City of Rouen War Memorial. The Cross is raised on a terrace on the further side of the Extension. The Chapel, cruciform and surmounted by a dome, is in the middle of the Extension.
