On 16 September 1918, she was sailing unescorted from Bilbao, Spain, to Ayr, Scotland, when she was torpedoed without warning at 22:25 by UB-117 11 miles (18 km) southwest of Trevose Head, England, position 50°25'N/05°16'W. Of her crew, 25 seafarers, including the captain, lost their lives. The sole survivor was rescued, position 50°25'10''N/05°15'59''W.
