Son of Robert Norton and Ann Flynn of Montréal, Québec.
On 22 April 1918, the Welbeck Hall was en route from Pireus, Greece, to Port Said, Egypt, in ballast when she was torpedoed by UB-53 75 miles (121 km) north-north-east of Port Said. Four sailors lost their lives.
