Son of George McGregor Campbell and Mary Ann Sears. Husband of Olive Gertrude Hovey, of Saint John, New Brunswick. Father of Clarence Lester, Ralph Blaine, Burton Levi and Clayton Campbell.
On 30 April 1918, while en route from Dunkirk, France, to Barry Roads, Wales, she was torpedoed by UB-57 one mile (1.5 km) south of the Royal Sovereign Lighthouse in the English Channel off Eastbourne, Sussex, England. Of the 25 crew members, 20 lost their lives.

The tower Hill Memorial is located in London, England at Tower Hill and across from the Tower of London. This Memorial is dedicated to the 50,700 Commonwealth merchant seamen, fishing fleet workers and other on-board crew lost during the First World War. Included on this list are the 480 Canadians that gave their lives in the cause of the Great War. (J. Stephens) -
