Son of George McGregor Campbell and Mary Ann Sears. Husband of Olive Gertrude Hovey, of Saint John, New Brunswick. Father of Clarence Lester, Ralph Blaine, Burton Levi and Clayton Campbell.
On 30 April 1918, while en route from Dunkirk, France, to Barry Roads, Wales, she was torpedoed by UB-57 one mile (1.5 km) south of the Royal Sovereign Lighthouse in the English Channel off Eastbourne, Sussex, England. Of the 25 crew members, 20 lost their lives.
