Son of James E. and Ellen M. Bach(nee Lambert),of Toronto, Ontario. He was the eldest of four children. Harry and Arthur, twins, were born on May 19,1900 and a sister, Helen, born in 1902, all in Toronto. Lambert's family spent each summer in Southhampton, Ontario where their Grandfather, William McGregor Lambert was the keeper of the Chantry Island Lighthouse for over 50 years.
