On May 15, 1918, Tagona was on route from Bilbao, Spain, to Glasgow, Scotland, when she was torpedoed 5 miles (8 km) west-southwest of Trevose Head, England, by U-55. She sank in the Celtic Sea with eight crew members, position 50°29'N/05°07'W.
