Born 19 January 1897 at North Wellington, Victoria, British Columbia. Son of Samuel and Helma Torko, of Extension, British Columbia. He attested at Victoria, British Columbia on 3 January 1918. He stated he was single and employed as a fireman. He was discharged on 25 April 1918 as medically unfit.
