Baptized Joseph-Louis-Léon Bilodeau. Son of Louis Bilodeau and Adèle Dubé, of Thetford Mines, Québec. He was deployed to France on 29 March 1918 to serve with the 22nd Battalion but he never joined the unit. He was rather transferred a few days later to the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles, another infantry battalion. In July 1918 he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and was evacuated to England. Then, in October, as his condition was incurable, he was repatriated and died of this illness.
