The first name inscribed on the Beaumont-Hamel Memorial is George.

This 93-ton schooner sailed from Twillingate, Newfoundland, for Gibraltar and was reported missing on January 10, 1918 with its six crew members. No German submarine has claimed to have sunk this vessel.
