Son of Charles Hann and Susannah Jane Organ of Burgeo, Newfoundland. Husband of Susanna Childs de Burgeo. Father of four children, including Clara Lilly, James William and Eva Miriam Hann.

 

On 3 April 1918, the Elsie Burdett sailed the North Atlantic from Oporto, Portugal, bound for Burgeo, Newfoundland. This sailing schooner was intercepted by U-152, which sank her in position 44°38'N/24°28'W. The six crew members found refuge in a lifeboat that was never seen again.
