Son of Irené Blanchard and Ida Chiasson from Shippagan, New Brunswick. Brother of Roger, Everard, Anita, Marie, Edouardine, Yvette, Andrea, Fernande and Anne-Marie.

His battalion was responsible for defending the left of a front stretching between the destroyed villages of Paujol-gol and Kojanhari-saemal, in South Korea. Thanks to Russian artillery supplied to the Chinese, this area was shelled throughout September 1952. He was killed in action by this Chinese artillery fire.

UNITED NATIONS CEMETERY (BUSAN) South Korea

The United Nations Cemetery is located in Tanggok, a suburb of Busan. The land for the cemetery was granted to the United Nations by the Republic of Korea as a tribute to all those who had laid down their lives in combatting aggression and in upholding peace and freedom. There are 2,267 servicemen buried in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery. Of these 1,538 were Commonwealth soldiers, including 376 Canadians.
