Picture taken in Galt, Ontario (his parent's home) on August 10, 1916 - the day before he left for England. He had been working in Alberta and had joined the 138th Battalion in November 1915. He would have been 26 in September 1917. He had been transferred to the 49th Battalion in which he was serving when he was killed.
