Official War Diary entry for the 123rd Battalion (Canadian Pioneers), pages 12-13. Pte. Franklin D. McMurdy was among 20 men killed on October 21st, 1917. The incident is detailed in this diary entry. -
Honour Roll
Appendix 19 from the 123rd Battalion (Canadian Pioneers) War Diary lists Pte. McMurdy among a group of 20 men killed when a shell struck their group returning to billets on October 21st, 1917. Based on this list, Pte. McMurdy was killed instantly. The 21st name on the list was a man who was killed in another incident earlier in the day. -
