In 1955, President Ernest Hanson of Milltown Branch #48, Royal Canadian Legion proposed a Veteran's Memorial monument be erected in the community. A community drive to raise funds was successful and in September 1956 a dedication service was held. About 400 War Veterans and spectators attend the unveiling of the granite monument to honour those who paid the supreme sacrifice in the First World War, the Second World War and Korea. The monument was designed by Windsor Dewar, of Milltown, N.B. and constructed by Kenneth Fitzgerald, stone mason from St. Stephen, N.B. The monument is made of grey granite and came form the quarry at the Ledge, a rural area of St. Stephen.

Early in 1923 consideration was given to erect a suitable monument in memory of those who paid the supreme sacrifice. On 20 June 1926 the monument was unveiled. There were about 130 men who had been through the conflict in attendance. The monument was designed by Miss Frances Loring from Toronto, Ontario. The monument is made of grey granite with bronze plaques bearing the names of the soldiers. The statue of the soldier on top is made of bronze. Sometime after 1953 an addition was added to the monument listing the names of those who gave their lives in the Second World War and noting Korea.
