THIS NEW INNOVATIVE STYLE OF CENOTAPH WAS DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED
AROUND TWO THEMES, THE CENTRE OF THE MONUMENT CONSISTS OF STONES FROM
THE 73 COUNTRIES WHERE CANADIAN SERVICE PERSONNEL ARE BURIED SYMBOLIZING
BRINGING OUR BOYS HOME REACHING OUT FROM THE CANADIAN COAT OF ARMS,
THE "ARMS" OF THE CENOTAPH SYMBOLIZING HANDS CLASPED IN FRIENDSHIP. THE
PROVINCIAL STONES ARE ARRANGED IN THE ORDER THE PROVINCES ENTERED
CONFEDERATION. FINALLY, THE LIGHT ON TOP OF THE CENOTAPH REPRESENTS
THE ETERNAL FLAME OF REMEMBERANCE.

A large granite in the shape of a rectangular central column extending above its two sides is the focal point of the Monument which is defined by a circular stone base. Stone stelia are positioned on either side of it.

This shaft is made from stone originally used in the cenotaph erected at Acadia School in 1980, dismantled in 1996 and rebuilt at this location in 1997. A lion sculpted in stone sits atop the cairn.
