This memorial is dedicated to Holocaust Remembrance. It was erected by the Government of Canada, Province of Manitoba, The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, and the Holocaust Remembrance Committee of the Winnipeg Jewish Community Council on 16 September, 1990.

This monument is known as “Le Poilu”, a well-known expression in France for French soldiers who served during the First World War. It features a stone base with a statue of a soldier in uniform holding up a laurel wreath in his right hand and a rifle in his left hand. The memorial was built by Nicolas Pirotton and A.C. LeGrand and the statue was created by sculptor Eugene Benet. It was dedicated on 11 November 1920, to honour the Francophones of western Canada who died in the First World War.

Names of those who died in the Second World War were later added to the back of the memorial. The memorial was renovated by Veterans of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 15 and re-dedicated on June 16, 2007.

The Next of Kin Monument was unveiled and dedicated by members of the Soldiers’ Relatives Memorial Association of Winnipeg, on May 13, 1923. It is dedicated to the memory of 1,500 Canadian soldiers from Manitoba who lost their lives in the First World War.

Colonel J.N. Semmens of Winnipeg designed the monument and the soldier was made by Winnipeg artist Marguerite Taylor. The soldier’s rifle rests on its butt end on the ground. The soldier portrays the time peace was declared, when the victorious soldier threw his rifle into his left hand and triumphantly whirled his tin hat in the air. Marguerite wanted to portray a happy soldier so the bereaved wives and mothers would not be too saddened when they looked at it. She used a real soldier as her model for the statue which was cast in London. The Sergeant Major who posed for her was very proud of his boots and puttees which he had worn at Passchendaele.

On the sides of the monument are four bronze plates which were supplied by Henry Birks and Sons Limited of Winnipeg. At the top of the plaques, angels provide a canopy for the names of more than 1,500 soldiers.

The parents of Lieutenant James Arnold Victor David erected this memorial to the memory of their son who served and died during World War II. The Memorial was made by McCausland, Toronto, 1959. It includes a depiction of the Winnipeg Grenadiers Crest at the bottom.

The St. Norbert Cenotaph was financed by a collection from students at St. Norbert Boys School. Principal J.A.M. Cyr donated the funds to Reverend Cure M. Cloutier. The cenotaph was erected between 1921 and 1922, as Cloutier became a Monseigneur in 1922.

Since 2009, a Remembrance Day Service has been held here annually and caring for the monument has become a community project. At the 2019 service, three people attended who were family members of one of the 13 people honoured on the cenotaph. 

Jim Busby, a local amateur historian and researcher, helped research the 13 servicemen from St. Norbert with assistance from the Manitoba Historical Society and Darryl Toews. Among those memorialized on the cenotaph are Charles Leaumorte and Jules Seewald, two French men who were called back to France to serve once war broke out. Leaumorte was a teacher in St. Norbert.

Erected by the city of Winnipeg, this memorial is dedicated to the men and women of Fort Garry who have served in the military.
