This memorial was constructed in August 1968, in memory of Canadian War Veterans and particularly veterans from this area. After the completion of the present Lisle Legion, it was decided to build some type of memorial or a marker of some kind to honour those who served and died for their country. This was particularly needed for the November 11th Memorial Services and other services that were held outdoors. In both the first Legion (Railroad Station) and for a few years at the present Legion, a large square wooden platform was used, both as a saluting base and for the mounting of the guard during the outdoor portion of the Memorial Service. In 1968 a soldier, Sgt. Vince Sullivan, had built the Cenotaph in Worthington Park in Base Borden. He was approached to see if he would build a similar one for the Lisle Legion. He consented to build it free of charge and all he required were a few people to help him. He still had the forms from the one he built in Borden and a few bags of cement and the colouring that goes into the cement. This was good news for the Legion and the job was done in one week of evenings that summer. With the exception of Sgt. Sullivan, all the work on the memorial was done by Fraternal Members of the Lisle Legion. One of the bigger controversies was trying to agree on the proper wording for the inscription on the brass plate. Some members wanted the words "For King and Country", others wanted "Commonwealth and Country", while others thought "British Empire" would be right. Still, others wanted to omit anything to do with Sovereignty entirely. Eventually, these words were chosen but not until after two meetings and a lot of hot debate. "IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR THIS COUNTRY" These are the Fraternal Members who built the memorial and some background information: Tom Butler: Born, raised and lived in the Stone House on the Forth Line of Lisle until he moved to Alliston in the fall of 1996. Vince Sullivan: Retired from Army and lives at Arthurette, New Brunswick. Alec Begg: Deceased. Lived in house south of Lisle where Elvis Jamieson now lives. His daughter is Barbara Adams, a member of the Lisle Legion, as is her husband Gord and daughters Debra Adams and Dawn Charpentier. Barb Adams lives in Spruce Grove, Alberta. Jim Lane: Deceased. Owned and operated the Lisle Restaurant in the late 50's and early 60's. Claude Patton: Deceased. Farmed west of Lisle and was mailman in that area for many years. His sons Bill and Don, both belong to the Lisle Legion. At a General Meeting in October of 1994, it was decided that the old Cenotaph needed a face lift. A contractor was hired to do the job. He resurfaced the base that the Cenotaph stands on and recovered the previously smooth surface of the Cenotaph with distinct coloured field stone which further enhanced this impressive memorial. The work was completed on August 31st, 1995.

Originally, this memorial was unveiled on 16 November 1984 by the Colonel Commandant of the Medical Branch, Major-General J.W.B. Barr, and dedicated to all those who served in the medical services of the Canadian military. The memorial was funded through donations from serving and retired personnel of the Canadian Forces Medical Service, the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and the Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force medical services.

On April 9, 2009, this memorial was rededicated to includes personnel of the Canadian Forces Health Services since the Canadian Forces Medical and Dental Service were united in 1995. Names of over 1394 fallen Health Services personnel are inscribed chronologically since the Boer War, as recorded in the Books of Remembrance in Ottawa. Consequently, the monument was modified; the front became the back, and the new front includes the inscription of the fallen soldiers on six plaques. Also added to the memorial were four granite walls. They represent multiple smaller individual bricks with plaques inscribed with names of fallen soldiers, including all the fallen from Afghanistan.

The Memorial Cairn and Stewart Square were created by Lieutenant Colonel B.W.E. Lee in honour of Lieutenant Colonel James Reginald Stewart, MBE, CD, Provost Marshal (Army), April 1946 to July 1954. It was officially dedicated on 13 June 1965.

The original cairn was created using flag stones and sat on a solid cement base. At some point in its history the cairn was rebuilt due to old age/damage, using new flagstones. Four Golden painted lions were added at the four corners of the base and a copper cap placed at the top of the cairn.

It was primarily a memorial to the Canadian Provost Corps, ultimately extending to the Canadian Intelligence Corps, Royal Canadian Air Force Security Services and Canadian Forces Security and Intelligence branches, commemorated by plaques affixed to the sides of the cairn.

The memorial was previously located in Worthington Park on Ram Street, Canadian Forces Base Borden, before it was moved to its current location in 2015.

Greg and Sue Hindle first started working on the Alliston War Mural in 2015. They painted images commemorating Canadian’s contributions in Afghanistan. The artists used photos taken by Afghanistan Veterans to complete the images. In 2016, a second mural was added to honour UN troops and it depicts United Nation’s soldiers, an observation tower, a helicopter and a light-armoured vehicle.

The last two murals at the Alliston Memorial Arena were unveiled during the Remembrance Day service on November 11, 2017. The First and Second World Wars panel shows Sir Frederick Banting's parents standing outside the homestead as they see their son off to war, and another scene was inspired by a photo of new recruits marching through Alliston. It also includes the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, soldiers in trenches and biplanes.

In the half dedicated to the Second World War, troops are seen landing at Juno Beach, while the Korean War mural highlights missions carried out by soldiers, including those of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Regiment.

The completed murals had poppies painted along the bottom to match the number of Canadians that died in each conflict.

Dedicated on 15 May 1994 by the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Branch, this memorial is dedicated to the members of the former Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers (RCEME) and the men and women who currently serve quietly to keep the fighting troops in good running order, the Electrical and Mechanic Engineers.  These Craftsmen are represented by the Weapons Techs, Vehicle Techs, Material Techs and Fire Control Systems Techs.  Vital links in the organization, but they don't get the glory of the front line troops. The memorial was dedicated to commemorate the 50 years of service that RCEME has provided.
