The Renfrew Cenotaph was a gift from the Honorable Thomas Andrew Low, a local businessman who was thrice elected to Parliament. In 1918, he landscaped the town park and built the Cenotaph bearing the names of Renfrew and District war dead.
It was made of grey granite and designed by Richard Hubert Millson & Cecil Burgess. The Cenotaph was constructed in 1931. The names of the Second World War war dead and Korean War dates were added later. It was restored in 2008 with financial assistance from Veterans Affairs Canada as part of its Cenotaph Restoration Program.

INTO ACTION
In recognition of
Canadian Parchute Operations and Training
Dedicated this 28th day of August 1988
L'ENTRÉE EN ACTION
En reconnaissance des opérations et de
l'entraînement parchutistes canadiens
Inauguré en ce 28e jour d'août 1988
The Airborne Forces monument was dedicated on August 28, 1988. It was constructed in memory of the Canadian Airborne Forces, including the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, the Canada/USA Special Service Force, and Defence of Canada Parachute Units. The Canadian Airborne Regiment commissioned this monument to mark its 20th anniversary and to honour all past and present Canadian operational parachute units.
The Artist, who designed and sculpted this 8 foot high bronze monument, is Colonel Andre D. Gauthier (CF Ret'd) of Orleans, Ontario. His statue is titled "INTO ACTION" and depicts a contemporary Paratrooper in winter gear who has just landed on a frozen lake drop zone, shed his parachute harness (seen at his feet), picked up his rifle and is heading "into action".
The dedication ceremony involved an Honour Guard from the Canadian Airborne Regiment, a Flag Party of Canadian and USA Veterans, a Canadian Forces band, and numerous guests and veterans of Airborne Forces.
Although the Canadian Airborne Regiment was disbanded in 1996, the Airborne role lives on in three Light Infantry battalions (3PPCLI, 3 RCR and 3 R22eR) which each have a Parachute Company.
The statue was originally situated at the entrance to the Canadian Forces Base Petawawa and relocated on May 25, 2008, to the grounds of the CFB Petawawa Military Museums.
May the sacrifice of these warriors never be forgotten
The Afghanistan Memorial Forest was unveiled On November 1, 2010. It is a grassy area that extends from the Afghanistan Memorial Monument along a cement walkway. The Memorial Forest was a joint initiative between CFB Petawawa and Ontario Command of the Royal Canadian Legion. Large stones with bronze plaques are inscribed indicating the joint project between the base and the Legion.
The idea was developed about two and half years earlier when Lieutenant-Colonel Keith Rudderham, then the base commander, felt something permanent at Base Petawawa was needed to commemorate the sacrifices made by fallen soldiers in Afghanistan.
Red and white oak, as well as red and sugar maple trees were chosen for the forest and the walkway leading to the monument is lined with native ash, ironwood, linden and ginkgo trees. Each tree has a plaque bearing the name of the soldier, his or her unit, date of birth and death. Families were contacted as to the type of tree and placement within the forest that they would like in remembrance of their son or daughter.
The first tree planted was dedicated to the memory of Sapper Sean Greenfield, who was killed in Afghanistan on January 31, 2009 by an improvised explosive device west of Kandahar City.
