  • Photo of Sir William Thorseby Bridges– 25 Major General Sir William Thorsby Bridges (RMC 1879) was born February 18 1861. He studied at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario, Canada but left before graduating. In 1879, he joined his family who had settled in his mother's home town of Moss Vale, New South Wales. On 10 October 1885 Bridges married Edith Lilian Francis (1862-1926). He served as the first Commandant of the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1910-1914. He served with the Australian Infantry, A.I.F, 1st Divisional Headquarters. He was shot by a sniper in Gallipoli, Egypt on May 15, 1915 during the Great War.  Made aware of his immenent death, King George V knighted him on May 17,  1915. He died on May 18, 1915, onboard the hospital ship Gascon. He was buried in grave GRM/2. the Duntroon Military College Grounds, Australian Capital Territory,Australia. He is remembered with a Memorial at Mt Pleasant Lookout Duntroon Military College. He is commemorated on Page 566 of the First World War Book of Remembrance.

  • Memorial Doll– Ex-cadets are named on the Memorial Arch at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario and in memorial stained glass windows to fallen comrades.
