Son of J. Samuel and Anne Theresa (née Jackson) Sandercock of St. Marys, Ontario.

Cecil, as he was called, joined the service with his father Samuel and his brother Private William George Sandercock, who died while serving with the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles. Samuel was the only one to come home. Cecil was survived by four brothers, Charles Wilbert, Frank Rayfield, Harry and Percy John and one sister, Myrtle Louisa.

Vis-en-Artois and Haucourt are villages in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais, on the road from Arras to Cambrai. The VIS-EN-ARTOIS BRITISH CEMETERY, HAUCOURT is at the north side of the main road between the two villages.
