Startford-Upon-Avon Cemetery contains 22 First World War burials, made mainly from the hospital at Clopton House. During the Second World War, there was a contingent of the Royal Canadian Air Force based at nearby Wellesboune Mountford and of the 137 Second World War burials (most of them forming a war graves plot), 97 are of Canadian airmen. The cemetery also contains 15 war graves of other nationalities.

Photo of Joseph Dauplaise – Dauplaise, Joseph Adolphe Maurice - Sergeant. Born 14th September, 1923, at Sherbrooke, Que. Entered the service of the Bank 8th February, 1940. Served at branches in Quebec. Enlisted 9th December, 1942, from Noranda in R.C.A.F. Sergeant 28th December, 1943. Trained at Edmonton, Alberta, and Lachine, Quebec. Overseas early in 1944. Reported 30th July, 1944 killed in action while making one of his initial flights. From a memorial booklet prepared by the Canadian Bank of Commerce. -
