  • Grave marker– in 2018 while visiting Scotland, my wife Cathy and I discovered the grave of a Canadian soldier who served in The Great War.

He was buried, alone, in an abandoned churchyard in Kilmore and Kilbride, Argyl, Scotland. This is the church where my 2nd Great Grandparents were married on December 3rd 1827. The church was abandoned many, many years ago and this soldier rests there alone. No-one will visit his grave on Remembrance Day.

I know nothing about this young man but what is engraved on his tombstone:

Private W.H. White

Age 21

Thank you Private White for your service.
