Brother of Second Lieutenant Arthur Cecil Shakerley who died on April 22, 1917 while serving with the Royal Field Artillery and brother of Captain Eric Piers Shakerley who died on March 10, 1915 while serving with the King's Royal Rifle Corps..

Petillon is a village to the south of Fleurbaix and RUE-PETILLON MILITARY CEMETERY is 3 kilometres south of Fleurbaix on the south side of the road from Petillon to La Boutillerie.
