Son of Murdo MacIver and Marion MacAskill of 4, Geshader, Uig, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, Scotland.

On 15 May 1918, Tagona was en route from Bilbao, Spain, to Glasgow, Scotland, when she was torpedoed 5 miles (8 km) west-southwest of Trevose Head, England, by U-55. She sank in the Celtic Sea with eight crew members, position 50°29'N/05°07'W.

This Memorial is dedicated to the 50,700 Commonwealth merchant seamen, fishing fleet workers and other on-board crew lost during the First World War.
