Baptized Pierre-Eugène-Irénée-Isidore Guay. Son of Joseph-Dominique Guay and Maria Morin, of Chicoutimi, Québec. His father was mayor of Chicoutimi from 1895 to 1903 and from 1922 to 1924. He was awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty, leading a platoon at the Battle of Hill 70 in August 1917, in Lens, France. He was killed on May 1st, 1918 while inspecting a support trench during stand to.
