  • Newspaper Clipping– "In Memoriam" poem placed in the Red Deer News for John Roderick Macdonald. This poem was inserted in the newspaper by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Macdonald, on the date of publication closest to the anniversary of his death in 1922. The Red Deer (Alberta) War Memorial was unveiled on September 15th, 1922. Although names do not appear on the exterior of this memorial, the newspaper reports explain that a scroll listing the names of the local men who died was placed inside the memorial. Macdonald's name was one of those listed on this scroll - these names appearing in part in the Red Deer News on September 13th, 1922.
