Location:

Le Havre is an important town and port on the north side of the estuary of the River Seine. STE. MARIE CEMETERY is one of the town cemeteries, but it is actually situated in the commune of Graville-St. Honorine. It stands on the ridge overlooking Le Havre from the north and is north of the N.182.

  • Circumstances of Death Registers– “Died”
During a disturbance at Le Harve between several French and Canadian soldiers, at 9.45 o’clock on the night of April 22nd, 1919, in which several revolver shots were fired, Private Hueston was wounded by a bullet in the right side of the neck. He was removed to No. 2 General Hospital, Le Harve, where he succumbed to the effects of his wounds and bronchitis three days later. Court of Enquiry [sic] convened to investigate the circumstances of his death found that he was accidentally wounded through no fault of his own by a person or persons unknown.
