John enlisted into the C.E.F. at Calgary Alberta on Oct 29th 1915. listing prior military service of 12 years in the South Wales Borders (Imp.) he listed his occupation as "Musician"  John died at Vancouver BC on July 4th 1919 at the age of 45.  He was laid to rest in the Mountain View cemetery of Vancouver BC.
