Location:

Barlin is a village about 11 kilometres south-west of Bethune on the D188, between the Bethune-Arras and Bethune-St. Pol roads, about 6.5 kilometres south-east of Bruay. The BARLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY and EXTENSION lie to the north of the village on the D171 road to Houchin.

  • Cemetery– This is a view of view of Cwmbach Llechryd (or Builth Road) (St John) Church, Wales.
At the time he enlisted, Herbert Hatfield's parents were living 14 Railway Terrace, Builth Road.  Inside the Church is a Roll of Honour on which his name is inscribed.
  • Plaque– The plaque inside St John's Church Cwmbach Llechryd on which Herbert Hatfield's name is inscribed.  He was born 19th April 1885 at Craven Arms, Shropshire, England and enlisted at Hamilton, Ontario on 11th September 1915.  He was a fireman.
