Son of Louis Hogue and Mathilde Laplante, of Montréal and St-Lin-des-Laurentides, Québec.

The battalion was in brigade reserve at Fosse No 10 near Sains-en-Gohelle when Hubert had an acute attack of appendicitis. He was evacuated to No 6 casualty clearing station in Bruay, where he died two days later.

Location:

Barlin is a village about 11 kilometres south-west of Bethune on the D188, between the Bethune-Arras and Bethune-St. Pol roads, about 6.5 kilometres south-east of Bruay. The BARLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY and EXTENSION lie to the north of the village on the D171 road to Houchin.
