Location:

Neuville-St Vaast is a village 6.5 kilometres north of Arras, a little east of the road from Bethune to Arras. LA TARGETTE BRITISH CEMETERY lies to the south-west of the village on the north-west side of the road to the village of Maroeuil.

  • Memorial– This is Arthur Chaplin's memorial stone at St Helen's Churchyard, Etwall, Derbyshire
  • Cemetery– The cross in the foreground is over the Chaplin family grave.  Arthur Chaplin's memorial is set in the ground.
  • Church– This is the Etwall War Memorial in front of St Helen's Church
  • Memorial– This the inscription on the War Memorial commemorating Arthur Chapin's service.  His brother Lieut. Henry Marmaduke Chaplin also died in service with the Cheshire Regt., on 11th May 1915.  Arthur left Bristol, England on 1st November 1913 aboard the "Royal George" bound for Montreal. He enlisted at Winnipeg on 14th November 1914
  • Memorial– Arthur Chaplin attended Derby School (founded 1554) and this memorial commemorates its pupils who fell in both World Wars.  It stands in front of St Helen's House (built 1767) in Derby which housed the School from 1863 to 1968.
  • Inscription– Arthur Chaplin's name commemorated on the Derby School War Memorial.
  • Grave Marker– Arthur's grave marker at La Targette British Cemetery
