Additional information
Baptized Joseph-Napoléon Élie-dit-Breton. Son of Joseph Élie-dit-Breton and Céréline Létourneau (deceased in 1913), of St-Côme-de-Kennebec, Beauce, Québec. He stated being born on 15 June 1894 when he enlisted.

Enlisted with the 57th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, in England on 8 June 1916, he was posted to the 69th Reserve Battalion before being transferred to the 22nd Battalion in France on 27 September. Arriving in the front line on 14 October, he was killed in action at around 1 a.m. on 25 December 1916 in the Meknes trenches, between Angres and Lens, by a 5.9-inch shell fired by German artillery.
