This plaque is dedicated to the memory of Private John Hyndman, born in June 1897. He was raised in Fitzroy Harbour and enrolled in Ottawa in August 1915. He died in January 1917 and is buried at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, and north of Arras.
This plaque was originally located at the Loyal Orange #222 Billings Bridge; at the time, the village of Billings Bridge was a small community near the present day Billings Bridge in Ottawa. With the closure of the Lodge, the plaque eventually came into the hands of Gloucester Township Historical Society.

This plaque is dedicated to the memory of Private John Hyndman, born in June 1897. He was raised in Fitzroy Harbour and enrolled in Ottawa in August 1915. CABARET-ROUGE BRITISH CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France
Souchez is a village in the Department of the Pas-De-Calais, 3.5 kilometres north of Arras on the main road to Bethune. It lies in the valley of the Souchez river, between the Lorette Bridge to the west and Vimy Ridge to the east. The CABARET-ROUGE BRITISH CEMETERY is about 1.5 kilometres south of the village on the west side of the D937 Arras-Bethune Road.
