Son of Henry Fry Sr. of Montreal, Quebec. Husband of Mrs. Edith Norton Fry of Montreal, Quebec. He listed his civilian occupation as law student at McGill University at Montreal, Quebec. Before receiving his commission, Lt. Fry was a Private and served under the service number 523. Injured at Passchandaele on 17 November 1917 and was invalided home to Canada on 12 April 1919 where he finally succumbed to his injuries.

Brother of Lieutenant William Scarth Fry, who died while serving with the Royal Rifles of Canada.
