Husband of Thérèse Dubois from Montréal, Québec. Son of Dieudonné Daneau and Laura Boyer of d'Iberville, Québec. Brother of Lucien and Gisèle. Half brother to Michel, Réal and Jean-Jacques and half sisters, Louise, Agathe, Nicole and Gislaine.
A veteran of the Second World War, he joined the Canadian Army Special Force in 1952. He was posted to the 2nd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment until November 27, 1952, then to the 3rd Battalion until his departure for Japan on March 26. He arrived in South Korea on April 16. He was accidentally killed on 18 May 1953 by the premature explosion of a mortar shell. At that time, the Regiment was in Naeoch’on.
His name was inscribed on the cenotaph of the Korean War Memorial in Meadowvale Cemetery, Brampton, Peel, Ontario, erected in 1997 to commemorate the 516 Canadians killed in action between 25 June 1950 and 27 July 1953, as well as on the Korean War Memorial in downtown Ottawa, Ontario. An identical monument can be found at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Pusan (South Korea).
