Son of Iréné Durocher and Dorilda Laflamme. Brother of Maurice and Lilianne.
Enlisted in the Canadian Army Special Force, he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment from December 29 to January 23, 1952, and to the 1st Battalion until his departure for Japan on April 14. He landed in South Korea on the 15th. A member of Company C, he was wounded in combat on September 4, 1952, by Chinese artillery shelling the Wyoming Line. He died of his wounds on the 5th at the aid station.
His name was inscribed on the cenotaph of the Korean War Memorial in Meadowvale Cemetery, Brampton, Peel, Ontario, erected in 1997 to commemorate the 516 Canadians killed in action between 25 June 1950 and 27 July 1953, as well as on the Korean War Memorial in downtown Ottawa, Ontario. An identical monument can be found at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Pusan (South Korea).
