Son of Arthur Leclerc and Emerelda Lapré of St-Hyacinthe, Québec. Husband of Louise Bourque of St-Hyacinthe, Québec. Husband of Laurette (née Bourque) Leclerc of St. Hyacinthe, Québec. Father of Fernand and Francine. Brother of Adrien, Gérard, René, Albina, Bernadette, Thérèse and Rolande.
He enlisted in January 1951 in the Canadian Army Special Force and served under the name Adrien Leclerc. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment from January 12, 1951, to January 23, 1952, and then to the 1st Battalion until his departure for Japan on April 14. From Japan, he sailed for South Korea on the 18th and landed at Pusan. A member of Company B, he was accidentally killed by a mine explosion on October 10, 1952, between the destroyed villages of Paujol-gol and Kojanhari-Saemal.
His name was inscribed on the cenotaph of the Korean War Memorial in Meadowvale Cemetery, Brampton, Peel, Ontario, erected in 1997 to commemorate the 516 Canadians killed in action between 25 June 1950 and 27 July 1953, as well as on the Korean War Memorial in downtown Ottawa, Ontario. An identical monument can be found at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Pusan (South Korea).
