Trooper Mechian is commemorated on a bronze plaque on the Cenotaph located in St. Marys, Ontario. He is also commemorated on his father's headstone in the St Marys Cemetery.

Location:

The cemetery is located approximately 12 km from Theunissen on the R30. About 30km north of Brandfort on the R30, look for a dirt road with a sign for the S477 (across from the 32 km peg). Drive 5km to the railway bridge and the Vet River cemetery is on the right. The entrance is about 400 m on the right, down the first dirt road.

  • Memorial at Bloemfontein Zoo– The entrance to the Bloemfontein Zoo is free if you explain that you are going to visit the monument and return within one hour.  The Zoo is located near the  waterfront tourist complex and stadium. The memorial is located in the Zoo between the "big cats" and the camel pens.
