John Scott

Prince George, British Columbia

John Scott has served with The Royal Canadian Legion since joining Branch 43 in Prince George, British Columbia in 1977. He began serving with the Executive as the Chair of the Public Relations Committee in 1978, was elected as 3rd Vice-President in 1979, and served through the Vice-President positions, before serving as President of the Branch for one year in 2007. He was first Vice-President and Past-President for many years before finally stepping away from the Executive in 2012. Since stepping down as President, he has served as Branch Service Officer and Sergeant-at-Arms, two roles in which he continues today.

He has also been involved at the Command level, serving as Deputy Zone Commander from 2004 to 2011, Zone Commander from 2011 to 2015,C and as Vice-President of BC Yukon Command since 2015. During this time, he has served as Veterans and seniors Chairman, Public Relations Chairman and is presently the Command Membership Chairman. 

When the Veterans Affairs Canada office shut down in Prince George, John became an adamant advocate for its reopening. He worked tirelessly to demonstrate the needs of Veterans in northern British Columbia and spoke directly to politicians at all levels. 

He was named Chair of the Branch Relocation Committee where he was instrumental in selling the old branch, finding a new location and fundraising $300,000 in order to complete to project.
