Baptized Joseph-François-Émile Boyer. Son of Omer Boyer and Marie-Célanire Brodeur (deceased in 1905), of Montréal, Québec. Émile stated being born in 1893 when he enlisted.
A conscript, he was enrolled in the 2nd Battalion Depot of the 2nd Quebec Regiment. In England on 28 March 1918, he was posted to the 10th Reserve Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. On 26 June 1918, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion. On 6 August, he went to the front line, where he was killed on 28 August 1918, during the Battle of Chérisy, France.

QUEBEC CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France
Take the D38 from Cherisy to Hendecourt. Approximately 2 kilometres from Cherisy turn left just before Sun Quarry Cemetery onto a dirt track. Continue for 1 kilometre before turning left to arrive at Quebec Cemetery.
