Son of Narcisse Grimard and Albina Raymond, of Montréal (Hochelaga), Québec.
Brother of Private Albert Grimard, who died while serving with the Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment).
Enlisted in the 41st Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on October 18, 1915, and landed in Plymouth, England, on the 28th. On February 29, 1916, he was assigned to the 23rd Reserve Battalion, and on April 15, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion. On the 16th, he set foot in France. On May 6, he joined his new unit on the front lines. On August 23, for his bravery in combat, he was awarded the Military Medal (MM), and on March 9, 1917, the Good Conduct Badge. On April 13, 1918, he deliberately shot himself in the left foot. He appeared before a court-martial and was sentenced on the 19th to a 28-day suspension of pay. On August 27, 1918, he was killed in action during the Battle of Chérisy, Pas-de-Calais.
