Additional information
Baptized Joseph-Frédéric Bélair. Son of Azarie Bélair and Marie-Ludivine Canuel, of Montréal (St-Henri), Québec. He stated being born on 31 August when he enlisted.

He was reported missing and later presumed killed in action on 15 August 1917 during the Battle of Lens, France, on Hill 70, north of Lens in the trenches near Cité Saint-Laurent for the capture of Catapult Trench. He was confirmed dead on 27 September 1917 and 11 June 1918.
