Plaque
Pte. Joseph Sproule Dunlop's name is listed on this bronze memorial designed as a tribute to the men of the Eaton company who died as a result of service in World War One. 3,327 Eaton's staff enlisted in the war. It was unveiled in Toronto on November 15th, 1923 by Mrs. Timothy Eaton and on November 26th an identical memorial was unveiled in the Winnipeg store. The shield of the female figure bears the coats of arms of the provinces of Canada. -

His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -

Source: Library and Archives Canada. CIRCUMSTANCES OF DEATH REGISTERS, FIRST WORLD WAR. Surnames: Duane to Dzhobiewski. Microform Sequence 30; Volume Number 31829_B016739. Reference RG150, 1992-93/314, 174. Page 567 of 1062. His grave was located ½ mile South West of Avion, 2 miles North of Vimy. Subsequently the grave could not be found, hence his sacrifice is commemorated on the VIMY MEMORIAL. -
