Vimy Memorial
Canada's Vimy Memorial, located approximately 8 kilometres to the north-east of Arras, France. May the sacrifice of so many never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -
Inscription
His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial (2010). Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -
Newspaper Clipping
Robert was the son of David and Jane Foubister of Watermoss, Deerness, Orkney, born on 4th July 1878 (not 14 Dec 1879 recorded on his attestation). Robert served 12 years in the Royal Marine Light Infantry and was awarded the China Medal, 1900 before travelling out to Canada. Had been wounded before was killed on 21st August 1917.
