Baptized Joseph Édouard Gailloux. Son of Jeffrey Gailloux and Délima Moreau, of Trois-Rivières, Québec.
He stated being born on March 26, 1893 in Trois-Rivières when he enlisted.
A very undisciplined soldier, he enlisted in the 22nd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, sailed for Great Britain on May 20, 1915, and arrived in Plymouth, England, on the 29th. On September 15, he left for France, where he landed the same day at Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais. A member of Company B, he was killed in action on June 15, 1916, during the Battle of Mont-Sorrel, in the Ypres Salient, Belgium. His body was never found.
