Baptized George-Étienne-Rosaire Crochetière; he was ordained to the priesthood in 1905. Son of Alphonse Crochetière and Joséphine Cormier, of Arthabaska, Québec. His mother died in 1880 and his father remarried the following year with Azilda Dubuc. They eventually moved to Québec City where his father died in 1905. Azilda Bolduc never remarried and died there in 1937. Rosaire Crochetière is believed to be the only Catholic chaplain to be killed in service during the First World War.

He had previously served with the 178th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Montreal, Quebec, from 18 February 1916. On 9 September, he transferred to the 150th Battalion. He crossed into Great Britain on 14 September and arrived in Liverpool on 6 October. He was posted to the 14th Canadian Infantry Brigade at Witley on 10 March 1917, to the 5th Canadian Division from 5 to 25 August to cross into France, and then to the 22nd Battalion on 9 September 1917. He was killed in action on 2 April 1918 in the trenches at Mercatel, Pas-de-Calais, France.

BAILLEULMONT COMMUNAL CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France

Bailleulmont is a village in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais, 530 metres south of the main road from Arras to Doullens (N25).

The BAILLEULMONT COMMUNAL CEMETERY is at the south-west end of the village, on the road to La Cauchie (D1); and in the east corner of it, to the right of the entrance, is a plot containing the graves of 33 soldiers from the United Kingdom.
