Son of Joseph Laroche and Delvina Pailleur (deceased 1909), of Stoke-Centre and Bromptonville, Richmond, Québec.
He enlisted in the 163rd Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, on March 27, 1916. He sailed for Bermuda on May 26 and arrived there on May 29. He departed Bermuda on November 18, stopping in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on November 26 before sailing again on November 27 for Great Britain, arriving in Liverpool, England, on December 6.
On January 7, 1917, he was assigned to the 10th Reserve Battalion, where he served until March 7, when he was transferred to the 150th Battalion (Mount Royal Carabiniers). On March 1, 1918, he was temporarily returned to the 10th Reserve Battalion and, on March 28, was transferred to the 22nd Battalion. He crossed the English Channel the following day and landed in France.
From March 29 to June 16, 1918, he served under the command of the Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp. On June 17, he rejoined the 22nd Battalion and proceeded to the front lines near Arras, Pas-de-Calais, on June 19.
On August 28, he was reported missing. On September 12, it was officially confirmed that he had been killed in action on August 28, 1918, during the Battle of Chérisy, Pas-de-Calais.

Sherbrooke Monument
Cover of the original program distributed at the unveiling of the Sherbrooke WWI memorial on November 7th, 1926, and two images of the monument. The monument was designed by Mr. G. W. Hill of Montreal, Quebec with bronze figures cast in Belgium and granite from the Stanstead district. The bronze Memorial tablet lists 249 names. -
